Deb Ruggiero, Principal

                    Welcome Back

After School Opportunities

I can't believe we are beginning yet another new school year! This will be my first full school year as principal of the Brickett School. I look forward to working with the families, teachers, and students to make this year as successful as it can be.  This is a time for everyone; students, parents and teachers, from kindergarten through grade five, to work together to make this school year a successful one for every student.

Parents who can find time to regularly to reinforce daily skills at home can be of great help towards improving their child's skill level and pace of academic growth.  We hope that all families will work with us towards increasing student learning.

Suggestions for Parents:
It would be extremely helpful if each Kdg. parent would review and help their child study the skill list sent home by Mrs. Barry and Mrs. Condon.  ELA and math readiness skills must be mastered to move on to first grade.

Grade one and two parents who can schedule time to help their children study vocabulary words, math facts and reading skills 10-20 minutes each night will begin to see noticeable improvements.  You may monitor your child's progress on Gr. 1 and 2 Vocabulary Graphs that are in the main foyer.

Gr. K- 5 parents who model reading, and encourage students to speak and write in complete sentences, and regularly review their children's work give a clear message to students that education is important.  We appreciate all those who regularly help children study and find the time to review work sent home.  Students need to memorize math facts and READ, READ, READ!!!

Through out the school year we will offer after school programs to help enrich our students skills in reading and math. Some of these programs will involve parents or another adult that you choose to work collaboratively with the children on the use of specific reading strategies in reading and in the content area of math. We will also continue to offer the MCAS Prep after school programs in ELA and math beginning in the winter.  Schedules and notices will be sent home and will be listed on your school calendars.

               Radiant Readers Awards
Each month our Brickett School  reading teacher, Mrs. Kassiotis, and the classroom teachers recognize students as Radiant Readers. A different grade level will be recognized each month and will be posted in the main foyer of our school. These awards are to acknowledge the students who show great improvement in their reading skills.

        ~Student Achievements~
Each trimester students from Grade four and five will  be recognized for outstanding attendance and academic honors during each trimester.  (Note * will signify achievement in two consecutive marking periods).
